Basic Paediatric First Aid
This basic first aid course is aimed at anyone who is around or cares for babies or children. This includes family members and childcare professionals with a duty of care. It is a one day (6 hour) course, approved by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW).
The course includes the following:
- Scene assessment
- Initial casualty assessment
- Child resuscitation
- Baby resuscitation
- Care of the unconscious casualty
- Common causes of unconsciousness - diabetes, eilepsy, asthma and allergy
- Recognise and respond to cases of poisoning
- Treatment of burns and scalds
- Wounds and the treatment of bleeding
- Fracture management
The course is a mixture of practical and theory. It is conducted in a friendly, non-intimidating and fun manner. All our trainers are specially selected and are very experienced. Many are health care professionals with specialist knowledge of childhood emergencies.
There is no formal assessment at the end of this course. All students are encouraged to participate. The course price includes a training pack containing current text book, stationery and a resuscitation face shield. A certificate of attendance is awarded to all students who complete the course and is valid for 3 years.
This course can be delivered over 1 day or 2 evening sessions. We are more than happy to come to your premises or the course can be delivered at our training suite in Wrexham.
