Hydrofluoric Acid Course
This half day course is designed for first aiders who work in businesses where personnel could come into contact with this potentially lethal chemical. It includes an outline of hydrofluoric acid, prevention of contamination, routes of absorption and an overview of its effects on the body, emergency decontamination, use of antidotes (gels), and communication with the emergency services. It follows guidance laid down by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The course is a mixture of theory and hands on practical, including decontamination and use of placebo gels to simulate application of antidote gels.
There is a short assessment paper at the end of the course.
This course is certificated.
