Emergency Paediatric First Aid

What you need to know

The Basic Paediatric First Aid course is aimed at anyone who is around/cares for children. This includes family members and child-care professionals with a duty of care. This course is approved by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) and can be delivered over 1 day, or 2 shorter sessions – either daytime or evening to suit. We are more than happy to come to your premises or the course can be run at our training suite in Redwither Tower on the Wrexham Industrial Estate.

The course includes the following:

  • Scene assessment
  • Initial casualty assessment / primary survey
  • Child resuscitation
  • Baby resuscitation
  • Child and baby choking
  • Recognise and respond to cases of poisoning
  • Care of the unconscious child and baby
  • Common causes of unconsciousness including medical conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, asthma and allergy
  • Emergency treatment of burns and scalds
  • Management of wounds and bleeding
  • An overview of fracture management

The course is a mixture of practical and theory. It is conducted in a friendly, non-intimidating and fun manner. All the trainers are highly qualified and experienced. Many are health care professionals with specialist knowledge of childhood emergencies.

There is no formal assessment at the end of the course, however the students are continually assessed throughout the day. The course price includes a training pack containing stationery, a text book and a resuscitation face shield. A certificate of competence is awarded to all students who successfully complete the course.

All candidates will receive a link via email to download their certificate within their course price. If you are the organiser, you will also receive the same link to download your employee’s certificate.To minimise our price increases this year we are introducing a fee of £5.00 per person if you would also like to receive a hard copy through the post.
