What you need to know
This half day (4 hour) course will enable the student to assess a collapsed, non-breathing casualty, perform CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) to increase the casualty’s chance of survival. Students must produce a current First Aid at Work certificate by a nationally recognised body.
Topics covered include:
- Casualty assessment
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Understanding, recognition and treatment for heart attacks
- How an AED works and how to use safely
- Practical sessions on CPR
- Setting up an AED and practise in using one safely
- How to place the casualty in the recovery position
Students will receive a full training pack including current text book, stationery and resuscitation face shield along with a certificate of competence valid for 1 year.
